Mom says daughter was kicked out of day care after she was choked

The girl came home with bruises around her neck.

When Ty Bates saw the bruises on her 4-year-old daughter’s neck, she called the child’s Snellville day care seeking answers.

But instead, Bates said the conversation ended with her daughter being kicked out of school.

“Her response was your daughter is not a good fit for the program anymore, and they did not need those types of problems,” Bates told Channel 2 Action News on Monday

Bates said she discovered the bruises Friday when her child’s father brought the child home from the Legacy Academy for Children, Channel 2 reported. Her daughter said a boy tied yarn around her neck and pulled so hard it left marks.

"I definitely think about what could have happened if he didn't stop and especially the fact that teachers didn't see what happened," she told the news station.

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is investigating, Channel 2 reported.

The day care said it is cooperating with DECAL and that it notified the organization about the incident once it became aware of it.

The day care’s director told Channel 2 that Bates was the one who decided to remove the girl from the school.

A letter was also sent home to parents about Friday’s incident.
