Some with accounts on Instagram found themselves on Thursday locked out due to a bug in the photo and video sharing app.
Instagram says it knows there are problems with some accounts, and that those problems have continued into Friday, but they are working to fix it.
According to a story from The Verge, those locked out of their accounts have not been shy about complaining, using Twitter and Facebook to beg Instagram to enable the accounts that seem to have been randomly shut down.
An Instagram spokesperson told The Verge, "We're aware of a bug that is causing some users to be logged out of their accounts. We're working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."
Some users were told via messages that their accounts were disabled for violations of Instagram's terms of use. Others received no message as to why they could not log into their accounts.
According to BuzzFeed, an Instagram spokesman said people would be able to get back into their accounts when the bug is fixed. According to the spokesman, "… the bug logged some users out of their accounts, while also locking their accounts from view. When the bug is fixed and affected users are able to log back in, their accounts will be viewable again."
Instagram has 700 million monthly users. The app is owned by Facebook.
